One of the many reasons why so many of us love living in New York is because nearly everywhere you turn you can find amazing small towns. The true hearts of the Empire State, these delightful destinations encourage us to travel and spend our free time taking road trips around our state. But with fall now arriving, you may be wondering what areas you should check out to enjoy our fall foliage and other seasonal activities. Providing you with some inspiration, here’s one incredible town that makes for the perfect day trip during Autumn.
Right along the Hudson River not far from our stunning Catskill Mountains is the beautiful destination that is Kingston.
Kingston is home to the Trolley Museum of New York that offers a 2-mile long ride through town that's beautiful to experience during fall and takes you right along the waterfront.
From now through November you can also find the Kingston Farmers Market taking place on Wall Street every Saturday. Be sure to come prepared with an empty stomach!
And if you somehow still manage to feel hungry or happen to visit on a day when the farmers market isn't taking place, you can feast on amazing food at spots like Duo Bistro.
But one of the absolute best reasons why you need to visit Kingston during the fall is because this is where you can hop aboard the Catskill Mountain Railroad!
Offered at 11AM, 1PM and 3PM you'll be able to ride on Ulster County's only scenic train ride that gives you a stunning look at the Catskills like you've never seen.
