Here at Only In New York, we’re always keeping an eye out for the latest exciting festivals that are hitting our state. Happening once again in the month of September, one of the greatest festivals of its kind will be celebrating 47 years of fun and you won’t want to miss it. Ready or not, it’s time to look up because the largest hot air balloon festival in our state is just around the corner!
Coming to New York on September 19th through the 22nd, the Adirondack Balloon Festival is the largest hot air balloon festival in the Empire State.
Drawing in people from all of New York and beyond, the hot hair balloon festival showcases more than a hundred different hot air balloons all in one place.
Taking place at the Floyd Bennet Memorial Airport in Glens Falls, just south of Lake George, the Adirondack Balloon Festival is an amazing event that people of all ages can enjoy.
Each year the Adirondack Balloon Festival hosts photo contests online, where you can submit your pictures for a chance to win exciting prizes - so don't forget your camera!
Younger attendees of the festival will have an assortment of activities to choose from like miniature train rides, bounce houses, games, and amazing local vendors.
Considering the fact that this hot air balloon takes place at an airport, it's needless to say that you'll find plenty of wide open grassy spaces for you to set up shop on. Visitors of the festival are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and coolers to keep them happy throughout the day.
With balloon launches happening at 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., you'll find multiple times throughout the weekend where you can get the chance to see this sea of balloons taking over the airways.
