During the hot summer months, you need a cool, beautiful, and relaxing place to go. There’s no better way to cool off than spending some time at one of New Mexico’s gorgeous waterfalls. The Land of Enchantment is home to several waterfalls that will help you beat the heat, get you outdoors, and provide some pretty spectacular views. Bluff Springs is a gorgeous 40-foot-high waterfall that is surrounded by beauty. You can stay at the nearby campground to make a visit to this waterfall a weekend getaway. Grab your hiking shoes to venture to the Bar Canyon-Soledad Canyon Waterfall. To reach this waterfall, you’ll have to hike a 3.4-mile trail that does require a bit of a climb. The waterfall can be small and measly or after heavy rainfall, it can make quite an impression. Nambe Falls is one of the largest and most beautiful waterfalls in the Land of Enchantment. It is actually a series of two waterfalls with the first waterfall reaching up to 100-feet tall. Jemez Falls is actually a triple waterfall located in the Santa Fe National Forest. To view this waterfall, it does require a short one-mile hike but once you reach the waterfall, it will be worth the short journey. To learn more about the hike and this stunning triple waterfall, click here.

While Travertine Falls is not the largest or the fullest waterfall in New Mexico, it is still worth a visit. To reach this waterfall, you must take a short trail that is easy enough that young children can come along. Keep in mind that this is a seasonal waterfall so, during the dryer months of the year, this waterfall won’t be very impressive but the hike will certainly be worth your time. Sitting Bull Falls is a favorite waterfall and recreation area for many New Mexicans. The waterfall is not only stunning but the natural pool underneath the waterfall will help you stay cool on the hottest summer days. It is no surprise that Soda Dam is a popular summer destination for many New Mexicans. This area is absolutely beautiful with a natural waterfall. Soda Dam is actually a large group of hot springs that have formed a unique bridge over the Jemez River. It is a truly spectacular sight.
