I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Do you enjoy shopping? Whether it’s for a souvenir or a gift for a birthday or holiday, there’s one incredibly unique store in the state you’ll probably love. Not only are goods sold here but there’s a museum as well. Welcome to The Nambé Trading Post, Gallery & Museum of Western Film & Costume, a one-of-a-kind trading post in New Mexico you could spend hours exploring!
The Nambé Trading Post, Gallery & Museum of Western Film & Costume is such a wonderfully unique place to explore in Santa Fe.
With the selection of goods in the shop plus an art gallery and museum showcasing Native American art and artifacts as well as costumes from well-known films, you should set aside enough time to take it all in. While shopping is always fun, there's so much you can learn from here as well.
...as well as gorgeous jewelry, beads, books, candles, journals, home goods, art, and so much more. Take your time perusing the shop and pick out some gifts for yourself and others while you're here.
The curator at the Museum of Western Film & Costume at Nambe Trading Post, Cathy Smith, is an Emmy Award-winning costumer who worked on Dances With Wolves as well as numerous Westerns. In the museum, you'll be able to view costumes from 15 famous Westerns and well as Native American art and cultural items. While there's an admission fee, it's well worth it!
