I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Good food is often found in places that are tucked away. Without the shiny exterior and glitz of a popular restaurant, Jorge’s Cafe is an unassuming restaurant with some of the best Mexican food in New Mexico. It’s easy to drive past a place like Jorge’s in Ruidoso Downs, but we urge you to stop by and enjoy a delicious meal.
Located on U.S. Highway 70 through the small New Mexico town of Ruidoso Downs is a hidden gem Mexican restaurant that's worth stopping at for a bite. Welcome to Jorge's Cafe!
While somewhat unassuming from the outside, the interior of Jorge's Cafe is light and airy with high ceilings and large windows. Grab a table or a booth and place your order with the waitstaff.
While there are plenty of American-style breakfast items like waffles and pancakes, your best bet is to try one of the Mexican-inspired breakfasts. Huevos rancheros are a customer favorite, and you also can't go wrong with a breakfast burrito.
For lunch and dinner, there's a wide array of flavorful dishes on the menu. Pictured here, for example, is the Green Chili Pork served with a side of beans and rice.
Whether you're in the mood for tacos, a burrito, fajitas, rellenos, seafood, burgers, soup, salads, and so much more, there's something on the menu for just about anyone.
