You don’t have to be an experienced hiker to enjoy some of New Mexico’s beautiful trails. There’s a trail in the Lincoln National Forest that’s incredibly scenic, and it’s easy enough that even newbies can tackle it.
If you're looking for a trail with incredible scenery that's appropriate for all hikers, head to the Lincoln National Forest to find the Osha Trail.
The trailhead is located just north of Cloudcroft, right off of US-82.
This loop trail is just 2.2 miles long, and it's easy enough for just about any hiker - even those with no hiking experience. Lace up your hiking boots, and start your adventure!
Make sure to bring your camera along on this hike - it's definitely pretty and picturesque. From this vantage point, you can see the old railroad trestle, and in the distance, White Sands.
During spring and summer months, watch for wildflowers right alongside the trail. You might even see some colorful butterflies. You might also see other wildlife, including mule deer, birds, squirrels, and more.
As always, please practice Leave No Trace principles when hiking this trail. Pack out any trash you bring in with you, and stay on the trail to protect the landscape around it so that everyone can enjoy this place for generations to come.
