It’s said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That sounds right to us, and our favorite pick for an early morning meal is pancakes – hands down. Old Tymers Cafe serves up delicious, fluffy pancakes that are some of the biggest we’ve ever seen.
Old Tymers Cafe has been a neighborhood icon for years, and it's the go-to spot in northern New Mexico when it comes to a tasty, filling breakfast.
The most popular breakfast item on the menu is the big, fluffy pancakes. You've never had pancakes like these. They're so big that they almost fall right off the plate, and they're so flavorful that you hardly need syrup.
Think you've got what it takes to tackle the Pancake Challenge? You'll have to consume three of these humongous pancakes in less than one hour. Each pancake measures more than a foot in diameter, so there's no time to waste. If you meet the challenge, you'll get free meal, a hat, t-shirt, and mug, plus you'll get your photo on the wall.
If you can't manage to finish it all, they'll make you wash your own dishes, and will splash your embarrassing photo on their Facebook page.
While pancakes are the specialty of the house, the other breakfast items on the menu are just as yummy. Try the New Mexican omelet; it's savory, spicy, and filling.
If you're visiting for lunch, you'll find a menu full of options that include juicy burgers, fresh salads, classic sandwiches, and delicious Mexican food dishes.
Stop by Old Tymers Cafe for breakfast or lunch seven days a week. The cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m..
Check out Old Tymers Cafe’s Facebook page to see the latest specials, and if you’ve ever taken the Pancake Challenge here, we’d love to hear about it in the comments!
