If you’re on Highway 82 in Southern New Mexico, you might pass by Alamogordo or Tularosa, but if you take a slight detour between the two you’ll be in for a treat. The small town of La Luz is home to some amazing scenery, but within the beautiful Laborcita Canyon, you’ll find a true hidden gem of a restaurant. This little country restaurant looks like next to nothing on the outside, but don’t let that fool you. Once you indulge in this unassuming spot in the middle of nowhere, you’ll be wanting to make the trek more often. Whether it be a killer brunch or an elegant dinner, this hidden restaurant is a dining experience you won’t want to pass up.
Welcome to Nuckleweed Place in La Luz! Once you head up to the beautiful Laborcita Canyon, you'll find this quaint country restaurant tucked away within a farm.
This hidden gem is truly hiding beyond the trees and doesn't look like much from the outside. The restaurant itself is a repurposed mobile home that's been turned into the quaint restaurant we know and love. Don't let the unassuming exterior fool you, because you're in for a wonderful dining experience at this La Luz gem.
The menu at Nuckleweed Place is often a bit limited, but that's okay because the items they do serve are made fresh and to perfection. The bread on your table is hot out of the oven, and even the salad dressing is made from scratch. All meats are Grade-A, and the produce is fresh as can be.
What truly brings in the crowd, especially the locals, is their fantastic brunch. From heavenly eggs benedict to stuffed French toast, this brunch will have you running back for more and bringing all of your friends.
Besides the exquisite food, the view at Nuckleweed Place is second to none. Situated in the foothills of the Sacramento Mountains, this canyon restaurant offers an incredible atmosphere for your meal. What the building lacks in beauty, the surroundings more than make up for. There's even a back deck to dine at for the perfect dining experience.
Whether you're heading out for an immaculate brunch or a delightful dinner, this unassuming country restaurant in the Tularosa basin should not be passed up.
