It’s feeling a bit nippy outside, isn’t it? Winter seems to be here to stay so it’s time to indulge in some mouthwatering comfort food. But comfort food in New Mexico is a bit different from other parts of the country. Sure, casseroles, chilis, and mashed potatoes have their place but for many of us, getting that warm feeling of nostalgia and love tends to come from New Mexican cuisine.
One such example of New Mexican comfort food at its finest? The dishes served at Barelas Coffee House in Albuquerque.
That's why you can bet a meal here tastes like something you'd find served at Mom's or Grandma's house.

Part of the reason that food tastes so good? The sauces and soups are cooked in stock pots like these at the start of each morning, so you can bet those spices have been simmering long enough for the flavors to infuse every drop.
If you're craving a hearty breakfast first thing in the morning, sit down for a plate of carne adovada and eggs, served with hash browns and a warm tortilla.
