Even though New Mexico has eased some of the restrictions on stay-at-home health orders, there’s no question residents are still feeling the effects of cabin fever. New Mexicans who’ve been itching to leave the house will soon have a bit of relief with free drive-in movies at select Walmart stores.
Called the Walmart Drive-In Experience, this will be a series of pop-up events happening around the country.
Showing a range of family-friendly movies, the drive-in experience will take place in the store parking lot and is free of charge.
The current list of showings available in New Mexico will take place in September and are located in Las Cruces at the Walmart Supercenters on Valley Drive and Rinconada Boulevard.
This includes family-friendly blockbusters like "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and "Spy Kids," as well as regional favorite, "Selena."
This has already proved popular since some showings appear "sold out" on their website. However, additional locations and showings may be announced in the coming weeks.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie begins at 7:30 p.m.
Before heading over, you will be sent a QR code in your email for entry. Simply drive up, scan the code, and tune your radio to the station noted in the email.
Unable to make it to one of these drive-in showings? If you’re located a little further north, you can catch a flick at the Fort Union Drive-In. Located in Las Vegas, it’s a modest, single-screen theater sitting on the outskirts of town. Read more in Right Now Is The Perfect Time To Catch A Movie At New Mexico’s Only Drive-In Theater.
