Few activities bring an appetizing start to a morning than with a hearty breakfast that feeds your soul and your tummy. If you’re looking for your new favorite breakfast joint located off the beaten path, then we know of just the spot.
Welcome to the San Marcos Cafe and Feed Store, located about 15 minutes outside of Santa Fe along State Road 14.
The feed store portion of the business sells animal feed and hardware and is home to a group of wandering peacocks. You might spot other animals—like chickens and geese—during a breakfast stop here.

But the restaurant's hearty meals are what keep people coming back to this hidden gem.
The Mexican and New Mexican breakfast options reign here, with breakfast burritos covered in hot chile, huevos rancheros served with filling portions of eggs, beans, and potatoes, and green chile stew served with a hot tortilla.
Each roll is about the size of a salad plate and could easily be split between several people for an early morning sugar rush. Each one is flakey and just the right level of sweet and sticky.
The San Marcos Cafe and Feed Store is located just south of Santa Fe via Interstate 25 and State Road 14.
