April is National Pecan Month and most people don’t know that the Land of Enchantment is one of the top producers of pecans in the country! In fact, the state comes in at a narrow second to Georgia in nationwide production of the nut.
To celebrate this, we’re featuring a few places to grab a delicious pecan dessert, ranging from classic pies to some very New Mexican concoctions.
1. Red Chile Pecañero, Buffett's Candies (Albuquerque)
A New Mexican twist on an old-fashioned favorite, this pecan brittle will put a pep in your step with its fiery red chile seasoning. If you're unable to visit the store, you can also order this and many of their other tasty candies online to be shipped anywhere in the country.
Craving something sweet and cold? Caliche's in Las Cruces and Alamogordo will hit the spot with their unique blend of frozen custard, green chiles, and salted pecans. The combination may sound a little odd but it's a match made in food heaven.
