In fact, you can find a picturesque spot to swim and scuba dive in the middle of a little desert town. Intrigued? We hope so! Here’s a look at one perfect swimming spot you can enjoy year-round right here in New Mexico.
This swimming hole certainly looks ideal, doesn’t it? This is The Blue Hole, located in a northeastern New Mexico town called Santa Rosa. It is almost a two-hour drive from Albuquerque via Interstate 40.
The swimming hole is actually a sinkhole that just happens to be filled with crystal clear water. It stays a cool 62-degrees throughout the year, making this an ideal spot for swimming no matter the season.
The Blue Hole is a popular swimming spot throughout the year, attracting hundreds to cool off on hot summer days. But it’s the diving opportunities that really makes this spot stand out.
The swimming hole measures about 80-feet wide and 80-feet deep. Combine the depth with beautifully clear water and caves you can explore, and you’ll see exactly why some people love to practice their scuba skills here.
