Are you looking forward to trying out a dining experience that expertly combines railroad history, tasty meals, rail rides, local ales, and the occasional band performance?
It's a hefty menu to offer but the historic Lamy Junction manages to do so with ease with its Harvey's Cafe and Chili Line Brewery Taproom located right inside.
Still an operating train depot for the Amtrak line, the station's restaurant and taproom are open to locals and travelers alike just as it would have been in the railroad's glory days.
It's worth noting this station is more than a century old.
Built in 1909, Lamy station has been a primary stop on the rail to Santa Fe and was originally called Galisteo Junction. It was later changed to Lamy in honor of a Santa Fe archbishop. For travelers, the building's Spanish mission style offered them a brief glimpse into Southwest life, with stuccoed walls, a red tiled roof, and sparse though intricate décor still seen in parts of the station today.
Stepping inside the depot, you'll find it still an operating station and that it still maintains a stark, rustic quality. The cafe and taproom keep up this ambiance with minimal decorative touches.
Accompanied by smiling faces, the taproom is the perfect spot to wind down with a drink after a long trip, whether it's by train or car!
It's even better if you stop by for happy hour between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. 😉
Here, you can opt for a glass of a brew on tap or purchase a flight if you can't choose just one.
Other drinks available include locally brewed canned beers, wine, cider, and champagne for those extra special moments.
In that same area is the cafe, which boasts an affordable menu of quick but tasty eats.
This includes artisanal soups and sandwiches, avocado toast, and weekend specials you'll want to splurge on. Pair this with a brew and you're in for quite the treat.
If you're lucky, you might also be treated to a serenading band while enjoying a drink here.
The musical acts here all stem from an Americana background, with music including from country, classic rock tunes, and rockabilly.
Are you ready to stop here on your next trip through Lamy?
