Did you know New Mexico is home to some spectacular barbecue restaurants? That’s right! Though the Land of Enchantment is better known for that mouthwatering green chile, we have some amazing places to get barbecue. Today, we’re taking a look at one restaurant that is a little out of the way but oh so tasty.
Mad Jack’s Mountaintop Barbecue is a highly praised barbecue restaurant isolated in the little mountain town Cloudcroft.
The barbecue joint has been operating since 2015 and focuses on central Texas style barbecue. This means the meat is heavily rubbed with spices then slow cooked.
In central Texas tradition, you’ll pick up a tray when you enter the barbecue joint and choose your meat by the pound. From there, you’ll get your sides, bread, and condiments.
Don't feel like having a big tray of food? You can opt for other menu items! For example, you can try the loaded baked potato, which seems like a meal in itself!
Mad Jack’s Mountaintop Barbecue is located at 105 James Canyon Highway in Cloudcroft. You can find directions from Albuquerque at this Google Maps link.
