I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
One of the best-known films ever made is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Filmed in 1968 and 1969, it was released to movie theaters in 1969 and became box office gold for its time. You may be wondering, “Where was Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid filmed?” – especially since you’re here reading this article. This iconic Western was shot mainly in Mexico and the United States in Utah’s Zion National Park, as well as Colorado. But both Taos and Chama, New Mexico, were also Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid film locations. We think Chama was a particularly ideal choice, with its small-town, Old West feel.
Did you know that Chama was a Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid film location? If you’ve seen the movie, did you recognize any of the places? Let us know! Seeing the Land of Enchantment on the big screen certainly makes us proud of our roots – how about you?
