I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Want to get away from it all? There’s nothing like a trip to a remote small town in New Mexico, like the town of Rodeo, to do just that. With the lack of tourists, open land, nature, and not an overwhelming amount of activities provided, the town of Rodeo provides an incredible getaway where you can rest, relax, and just be.
The community of Rodeo can be found close to the Arizona/New Mexico border off Highway 80 in Hidalgo County.
If you need some time in the wild, vast landscape of New Mexico, Rodeo is great place to do just that. When you visit, you can go hiking and feel like you're away from everything and everyone. Isn't that something we all need in our lives once in a while?
(Pictured here is Granite Peak, a geological formation that rises out of the desert and has an elevation of 5,574 feet. Seeing this unique natural wonder is a must when visiting Rodeo.)
While remote, there are a few man-made points of interest around town. For example, there's the Chiricahua Gallery that features the artwork of local artists from around the state and the region.

Not only will you find paintings and sculptures here but jewelry, cards, soaps, and other crafts. You can take a piece of Rodeo home with you.
There are places to dine here in Rodeo as well. Sky Islands Grill & Grocery offers an array of meals including pizzas and salads. And there are groceries available for purchase here as well.
While the town does have a few amenities, it's a wonderful community to feel as though you're away from it all. And in a place as remote as Rodeo, you can certainly enjoy stargazing beneath dark skies. There's virtually no light pollution here! Spend some time stargazing while camping out in the wild landscape.
