Usually, general stores are convenient little spots where you can pop in to grab some essentials, but this general store in New Mexico is a little bit different. This historic spot in Hillsboro has been many things in the building’s 144 years, and these days it’s known for having some of the best pie in New Mexico. Let’s check it out:
Hillsboro is a tiny little town in Sierra County that’s home to about 200 people.
Once a prosperous mining town, today the quiet town is an ideal day trip destination, especially for those traveling along the Geronimo Trail and into the foothills of the Black Range Mountains. As you make your way into town, this charming cafe is the perfect pit stop to refuel and take a look around.
The building was erected in 1879, and much of the bare bones of the building still remain.
Local books, jewelry, and t-shirts are available for purchase, but be sure to take a lap around the space to check out all of the incredible antiques the cafe has collected. It's quite a timeline!
There's just something about a homemade pie that will always remind you of family, and this pie is one of them!
Visit the website for more information, and don’t forget to give them a follow on Facebook so you can stay up to date on the latest daily specials and other wonderful treats coming out of the kitchen.
