These incredible sights are free to visit and explore. Here are just seven of the natural wonders in New Mexico that will keep money in your pocket and create a day full of memories.
1. Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness, Near Farmington
When you visit the Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness, you will feel like you’ve stepped onto an alien planet. Located in northern New Mexico, this area features some of the strangest rock formations that are made from sandstone, shale, coal, silt, and mudstone. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time when
visiting this area to explore. However, always bring your own water and food as there are no services available.
2. Paliza Goblin Colony, Ponderosa
After a 3-mile moderate hike north of the Paliza Family Campground in the Santa Fe National Forest, you’ll come to the
Paliza Goblin Colony . These unique volcanic rock formations aren’t like others that you will find around the Land of Enchantment. These rocks have eroded holes, making them appear as a large family of goblins. Even young children will love to search for the goblins in the area.
3. Red Rock Park, Church Rock
Red Rock Park, located in Church Rock, is a true natural wonder. This park is covered with beautiful red cliffs that create some incredible views. You can spend some time exploring this park, staying in the Red Rock Campground, or visiting the museum. You'll want to pack your hiking shoes as there are incredible trails that will take you to the most breathtaking rock formations in the park. However, be aware that while

sacred landmark to the Navajo tribe and it is known by the Navajo people as "Tsé Bit’ a’í", or rock with wings. Due to the sacred nature of this rock formation, climbing and hiking the monument are not allowed. However, you can still visit from a distance and enjoy its magnificent beauty.
6. Soda Dam, Jemez Springs
Jemez Springs Soda Dam is not only beautiful but it is old — like really old. The Soda Dam is estimated to be more than 7,000 years old. The Dam consists of more than a dozen hot springs that have formed a beautiful natural bridge over the water. You do have a short, easy hike to reach this incredible natural wonder in New Mexico.
