I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Aside from its stunning landscapes and natural wonders, New Mexico is known for something else — its New Mexican cuisine. We all have our favorite spots for local cuisine around the state but one regional restaurant in New Mexico you must try is The Original Cocina Azul. Open 7 days a week in Albuquerque, you can come here for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner.
If you're craving some of the best New Mexican cuisine around and happen to be in Albuquerque, you should try The Original Cocina Azul. This wonderful eatery is located at 1134 Mountain Rd NW.
If you're extra hungry, order a plate. You can either try a Quesadilla Plate, an Enchilada Plate, or a New Mexico Burrito Plate. Each plate comes with your choice of meat plus red or green chile (or both), and a choice of two sides.
Of course, you cannot come to any New Mexican restaurant without having the sopaipilla. Drizzled with honey, this is one of my favorite things to eat in the state.
