Believe it or not, summer is quickly coming to an end and though we’re still enjoying the last bit of summer, New Mexicans everywhere are preparing for one of the most beautiful times of the year: fall. The peak viewing predictions are out, and before you know it the Land of Enchantment will be bursting with beautiful colors. Let’s get out the binoculars, plan a road trip, and learn the best times to view all of the amazing leaves in New Mexico.

Of course, fall foliage viewing depends on many factors. A large factor is elevation, as the highest points of elevation often see the leaves change sooner, while fall colors in lower elevations don't peak until mid to late October.

October is supposed to be warm and sunny, and with the leaves changing in late September, you'll be able to see them clear as day as storms will be subsiding. The Northern part of the state is sure to light up with beautiful shades of red and orange in the mountains.

According to the Farmer's Almanac, the peak dates for viewing fall foliage in the Land of Enchantment this year are from September 29th to October 9th.
