On the lookout for your next favorite taco joint? We have a seemingly endless number of potential stops here in New Mexico, but there is one humble location that has started gaining a name for itself over the last few years: El Chile Toreado.
Located just a few blocks from downtown Santa Fe, El Chile Toreado is an understated yet impressive little spot that serves some amazingly delicious tacos.
Online publications like Uproxx and Travel + Leisure have named it as one of the best taco spots in the nation, so you can imagine the type of meal you may encounter here.
For approximately 20 years, El Chile Toreado has kept things simple with a no-fills to-go menu of tacos, burritos, and hot dogs, so they have had plenty of time to perfect their flavors. The food is humble, hot, and exceptionally flavorful, all served on paper plates.
The meat is served on a soft corn tortilla along with cabbage, pickled veggies, and your choice of a fiery salsa. This results in a meal that is filling, yet light enough for even the hottest days.
Other delicious menu items include burritos and hot dogs, each offering a hefty, savory meal that doesn't skimp on the spice.
The restaurant is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and on Saturdays until 2 p.m. It is closed on Sundays. For details about the menu, visit El Chile Toreado’s website.
