There are several small towns in New Mexico that are charming and quaint and are perfect for a weekend escape. No matter if you are looking for a little rest and relaxation, you want to spend your time in nature, or you are on the hunt for some incredible food, here are seven small towns in New Mexico that you’ll definitely want to add to the top of your must-visit list.
If you are searching for a weekend escape that is quiet and peaceful, Capitan is the place to go. You can spend time soaking in the beauty of the area and receive a little fresh air. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to visit the Smokey Bear Historical Park or the Fort Stanton Museum, located just outside of this small town.
If you are a nature lover, Cloudcroft is the perfect small town with a long list of outdoor activities regardless of the season. During the summer months, take a hike or explore the area on a mountain bike. During the winter, head to Ski Cloudcroft or go ice skating.
Santa Rosa is the perfect weekend getaway. This small town not only features the incredible Route 66 Auto Museum, but you’ll also want to visit Blue Hole, one of New Mexico’s natural swimming holes. This swimming hole features some of the clearest, bluest water in all of the Land of Enchantment.

If you want to get away, but you don’t want to travel too from the big city, head to Bosque Farms. This small town is less than 20 miles outside of Albuquerque. This is the ideal weekend getaway if you are searching for someplace that will make your taste buds go crazy.
