City of Rocks State Park is one destination in the Land of Enchantment that you will not want to miss. This state park consists of a unique “city” of volcanic rock formations that are old — like really old. These rocks are believed to have formed more than 34 million years ago.
Grab your tent or RV and set up camp. At the City of Rocks Campground in New Mexico, you can sleep right next to these incredibly tall and rugged rock formations.
There are also a number of campsites that have water and electricity hookups. However, these sites are often taken quickly, so you may want to make a reservation.
While camping at City of Rocks State Park in New Mexico, make sure to visit the astronomical observatory. This state park has beautiful, dark night skies, which create incredible stargazing opportunities.
