Are you dying for the old school nostalgia of a drive-in? We’ve got an off-the-radar Carlsbad joint that does burgers, nachos, catfish, tacos, and burritos like you wouldn’t believe.
Becky’s Drive-In was established in 1955 and is a Carlsbad institution. When you pull into Becky’s Drive-In, a friendly carhop is ready to greet you and take your order. You’ll really feel like you’re in a small town.
If you love greasy spoon faire, this is the spot. The meat comes from a local, family-owned butcher shop in Carlsbad, Lakeside Meats. How rad is that?!
Burgers are on lock, of course, but also french fries are just $3! Or they come in a half order if you are wanting a smaller indulgence. Speaking of fried food, also on the menu are fried pickles, zucchini sticks, green beans, and more.
Corn dogs are also a pride and joy. Get yourself a Super Dog if you want a larger than life, hand-dipped corn dog. Order a Suzy Q if you take the corn dog business very seriously.
The catfish basket will remind you that you’re not at a chain restaurant anymore! And you’ll get that mom-and-pop kind of feel that’s getting so much rarer. This place is old-fashioned in the best way.
The Mexican food in particular is on point. The meatflip will save you from trying to pronounce “quesadilla.” And they do not skimp on the quarter pound of fresh beef or green chiles! Just remember that Becky’s Drive-In is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
If you’re already in the Carlsbad area, check out the Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Becky’s Drive-In makes for a great meal pre- or post- spelunking in some otherworldly limestone caves.
