Visitors and locals alike will agree that Albuquerque boasts some of the best shopping in the Land of Enchantment. But many may not know that it is also home to the biggest shopping mall in the entire state. It is no ordinary mall, either: read on to learn all the insider knowledge about what makes Coronado Center the best shopping mall in New Mexico.
Built in 1965, The Coronado Center is an Albuquerque gem featuring 150 stores and services across just over one million square feet, making it the largest building in New Mexico by area. As such, it offers its visitors the ultimate shopping experience.
Coronado Center’s brightly lit interior shopping area features a variety of stores across a two-floor layout. One of its highlights is the children’s play area on the lower level near JCPenny where children can release any pent-up energy while parents relax and enjoy “The World’s Best Flavored French Fries” from the adjacent Potato Corner.
During the 2017 to 2018 time period, the Coronado Center underwent a massive transformation through a series of extensive renovation efforts. The new and improved interior layout boasts visually appealing modern design elements that have overhauled its appearance, while also adding several new stores.
Aerie is one of a handful of brand-new stores that were added during the renovations. This American Eagle-inspired brand features a variety of fashionable women’s clothing, including athleticwear, intimates, accessories, and more.
Bath and Body Works is another new addition to Coronado Center that offers a variety of delightful fragrances, lotions, soaps, scented candles, and more. This is a desirable staple for any shopping mall, and one cannot simply walk by the store without being drawn inside by its tantalizing aromas.
After a busy day of perusing the Coronado Center’s lengthy lineup of stores, stop by the Food Court for a bite at Charley’s Philly Steaks, Panda Express, Nori Japan, Keva Juice, and more.
Here’s a fun fact: Coronado Center’s Barnes & Noble is the largest bookstore in New Mexico! No matter what your shopping preferences are, you’re certain to find something to love for everyone at the biggest shopping center in New Mexico.
