February 22 is National Margarita Day, but if we’re honest, any day can be Margarita Day in New Mexico. Santa Fe is home to a mouthwatering Margarita Trail and part of that is one restaurant that features the largest margarita menu you’ve ever seen. Come along with us and let’s take a look at a margarita menu unlike anything you’ve ever seen:
This is where Maria's New Mexican Kitchen enters the picture.
The Santa Fe restaurant has been in business for more than half a century and has built a reputation for not only having a delicious menu filled with New Mexican favorites, but also quite the margarita menu.
Boasting more than 100 different margarita varieties, the margarita menu at Maria's feels something like an enormous pamphlet of the tequila-based cocktail.
You won't find a store-bought sour mix here! Aside from experimenting with different brands of tequila and triple sec, and adding in fruit, the recipe doesn't deviate much from its traditional form.
The featured cocktail here is the Los Lucero's margarita. A flavorful blend of 100 Años Añejo, Cointreau, fresh lemon juice, and a salted rim, this is a delightfully simple, yet satisfying drink.
And, when you're here, don't forget to grab a plate of food!
You'll find a variety of New Mexican favorites, like green chile stew, homemade posole served with a basket of sopaipillas, and Christmas-style blue corn enchiladas. This is one feast you don't want to miss out on.
Maria's New Mexican Kitchen is located just off Interstate 84 along Cordova Road. For details about the restaurant and its menus, visit their website.
