Get Lost In A Field Of Color At This Enchanting Wildflower Meadow In New Jersey
We may be an overall urban state but New Jersey still offers an abundance of nature in the form of fantastic parks. Liberty State Park, Branch Brook Park, Island Beach State Park, and Cooper River Park are some favorites, but there are so many more! Many of these parks offer colorful flowers, one has a wonderful wildflower meadow!

The wildflower meadow provides nectar, seeds and fruits that nourish birds, butterflies, bees, moths and other natural pollinators. The meadow and nearby trees also provide a nesting habitat and shelter for birds, along with cooling shade that helps to keep the lake livable for fish.
The plants are designed to transition throughout the seasons, from white daisies and golden yellow "sneezeweed" in the spring to orange butterfly weed, blue vervain, pink Joe-pye weed, purple New York ironweed, and pink and white rose mallow throughout the summer. The colors continue in the fall, with pink asters.
Volunteers support the meadow, which was designed to reduce algae blooms in the lake and improve water quality. Wildflowers can be found around the lake, and the Chatfield Garden.
