The craft beer industry is booming in New Jersey, despite legislation that limits breweries. We’re home to over 100 breweries, microbreweries, and brewpubs, with many more in the works. Each offers something special but only one is located right on the water…Avalon Brew Pub.
New to the brew scene (they first opened in the summer of 2017), they're one of the only beachfront microbreweries on the East Coast.
According to the brewery, We Don’t Play IPA is a true West Coast style IPA based around a very deep malt base that is jam packed with hop flavor with a citrus aftertaste. It has the highest alcohol content currently offered at 6.7% ABV.
Sound good but not quite sure? There's a lighter version with fewer hops called Cooler By A Mile. It's 4% ABV. There's also a bohemian style pale lager (Chill Pils), a sharp, spicy, wheat-based beer (Belgian Beach Bum Witbeer), and an amber ale with a hint of pine (Healing Sun). All have between 5% and 5.4% ABV.
Of course, there's the other side of the brewpub...the pub. You'll find fantastic burgers (with a new specialty each week!), wings, calamari, cheesesteak dumplings (yum!), artisan pizza, crab cake sandwiches, fish tacos, filet mignon and organic grilled chicken breast (for dinner), and kid-friendly eats like mac n' cheese.
