Whether it’s a beautiful summer day or a chilly winter night, whether you’re a foodie or a history buff, single gal, family man, art lover, photographer, enamored with nature, most or none of the above, Morristown has got something you’ll love. Discover what it has to offer below! Part of our ‘delighted’ spotlight series, we highlight New Jersey towns that you won’t want to miss. You’ll find a little history, 3 great restaurants, and 3 attractions featured below. Of course, there’s plenty more to explore in Morristown.
The county seat of Morris County, Morristown has been called ' the military capital of the American Revolution.' It is home to countless historic sites, around 19,000 residents, and some of the best restaurants in New Jersey. You'll also find the oldest guide dog school in the world, The Seeing Eye, here. Next, a sample of scrumptious dining options.
This trendy sushi spot features build-your-own sushi burritos and handmade ramen noodle soup. Sushi burritos eliminate the need for chopsticks and allow diners to enjoy sushi on the go. The soups are equally delicious, with a wide variety of options including spicy and vegetarian.
Not only do critics love this dining destination, it's one of Morristown's top-rated restaurants by locals. You'll find a varied menu with fine American cuisine, Creole-style jambalaya, and Thai beef satay. There are also options for vegans and vegetarians - try the roasted pear & endive salad with baby greens, candied walnuts, mango cubes, and strawberries tossed with a tamarind vinaigrette. We also love the dessert selection which includes a double chocolate stout brownie, white chocolate raspberry cake, and peanut butter silk (heavenly if you love peanut butter cups). Now, on to attractions...
Morristown National Historical Park - 30 Washington Place (mailing address)
This national park is packed with Revolutionary War History. It includes a museum, Washington's Headquarters at Ford Mansion, the Jockey Hollow Encampment, and plenty more. It brings the past alive AND, as of 2018, it's been free to visit.
Guests of all ages will enjoy this exciting destination. The Morristown Game Vault is an epic arcade housed in a former bank building. It offers over 110 classic and modern games, including plenty of pinball machines (my personal favorite).
New Jersey has some amazing museums but this has to be in the top 5, especially for families. It's got a little bit of everything - art, geology, paleontology, history, and some incredible music boxes. It's a fascinating place with interactive exhibits that kids and adults alike will love.
