New Jersey's most famous elephant is a great spot to start your day. If you get up early enough, you can catch the sun rising over the Atlantic Ocean.
Then, spend some time exploring the Tuckerton Seaport museum.

On your way to your next stop, take a detour in the pines and find the Carranza Memorial.

This unique monument is a memorial to one of the world's most famous aviators, Emilio Carranza. Carranza was returning to Mexico from a goodwill trip to the United States when his plane crashed at this spot. The memorial was funded by Mexican schoolchildren.

After a peaceful stop in Wharton State Forest, this lively little town is sure to wake you up. Visit the Historic Burlington Prison Museum, where you'll learn all about the oldest prison around and hear some of its fascinating stories. Then, go for a walk down High Street, where you can stop for lunch at Downtown Pizza, Yaad Man, The Local, or Robin's Nest.
After lunch, take a scenic drive out to Monmouth Battlefield.

You'll pass charming farm stands and historic properties on your way east! Plan to spend some time truly exploring the Battlefield and Park. Did you know this is where the tale of the American Revolutionary hero Molly Pitcher came from?
Hop back in the car, and head north! Twin Lights Historic Site awaits.
