Though the official New Jersey State Parks foliage tracker says that much of the Garden State is seeing “some change” in the leaves, I’ve noticed fairly significant changes in several areas during my daily travels. It was a delightful surprise to see entire swaths of red and gold so early in the season! These changes mean that now is a wonderful time for a colorful scenic drive. We’ve got so many terrific options but one of my absolute favorites has to be Henry Hudson Drive.
Henry Hudson Drive is a winding, well-shaded road that runs along the Hudson River.
I prefer to access it via the Parkway which is a scenic drive all on its own. There are plenty of pull-offs and overlooks where you can enjoy spectacular New York City skyline views.
When you travel to Henry Hudson Drive, you can do much more than drive. It runs through Palisades Interstate Park offering hidden beaches (not for swimming)...
This drive makes for a great day trip since you’ll also be able to park and hike if you choose. If you get hungry, the State Line Cafe is currently open for takeout. With several wonderful trails, where do you begin? Try this hike to castle ruins or this hike to an enchanting stone monument.
