New Jersey sometimes gets a bad rap (thanks a lot, Jersey Shore), but the thing people who have never been to New Jersey don’t understand is just how gorgeous the state is. We have some of the best beaches on the east coast, rolling green fields, and actual mountains. And one of the crowning natural jewels in the state? The Palisades.

The Palisades Interstate Park encompasses about 12 miles of stunning nature, but the highlight is the strikingly steep cliffs that border the Hudson River. They’re eye-catching to look at straight on, but when you hike to the top you’re in for an absolute visual treat. Sure, they’re not exactly a state secret — but it’s worth being reminded of the beauty of these cliffs.
