Take A Stroll Through New Jersey's Past At This Historic Park And Gardens
If there’s one site that sums up New Jersey’s outsized role in American history, it’s Morristown National Historical Park. This sprawling complex of indoor and outdoor sites dates back to the American Revolution and features hiking trails and restorations of some of the buildings from the era. It’s a massive institution that just celebrated 90 years, and it has so many places to explore that many people don’t even know it’s home to the most historic garden in New Jersey. I was blown away when I got my first look at Cross Estate Garden, a beautiful site containing a wide array of plant life as well as historic buildings. It’s been operated by the National Park Service since 1975 after spending most of the 20th century as a private residence, and that means it’s open for visitors to witness the beauty and history.
