The One Small Town In New Jersey That Transforms Into A Little Piece Of Ireland Once A Year
St. Patrick’s Day is nearly here and New Jersey sure knows how to celebrate! Towns all over the state are doing it up in a big way, and today we’re featuring one where you’re sure to have fun! That town is…South Amboy. But first, a few facts…While Italian is the most reported ancestry in New Jersey, Irish comes in second. About 14 percent of New Jerseyans, or about 1.26 million people, listed Irish as their first or second biggest bloodline on the most recent census. The most Irish town in New Jersey is Gloucester City, with around 36% of residents reporting Irish ancestry. But one of the best St. Patricks day events in New Jersey, that’s in South Amboy!

The parade kicks off at 2 p.m.! There will be nearly 80 groups marching, including local civic organizations, live musicians, and area businesses. There will be plenty of festive floats, as well. The parade will start on South Pine Street, near Bordentown Avenue.
When the parade is over, there's still plenty of fun to be had. Head to the Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall at 5 p.m. for the after party.
