There’s nothing better than raw cookie dough, except maybe raw cookie dough that won’t get you sick. I remember the very first time I tried it, and I’d travel to New York City just to get my fill. I’d take bus, then a train, then walk several blocks for a single “cookie dough shot.” I’d cross the ocean if I had to…I was in love. For years I waited, hoping the cookie dough craze would cross the Hudson River, and it did.
Just Dough It is a sweet new addition to the Point Pleasant dining scene. You'll find it at 606 Arnold Avenue, open daily from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m., and 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. They offer a nice mix of flavors including Cape May Chocolate Chip, Red Bank Reeses, Bradley Beach Birthday Cake, Seaside S'mores, and Ortley Beach Oreo. Choose your favorite and then add toppings! You can also enjoy ice cream, shakes, and mouthwatering combinations.
A kiosk at Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, this little storefront serves up some big flavor. Open during mall hours, you'll find all sorts of creations including Meet Your Match-A (classic dough infused with matcha green tea powder and topped with chopped pistachio nuts, a drizzle of condensed milk, and a wedge of Green Tea Kit Kat) and Sundae Morning (Special K Red Berries Cereal folded into Wild Strawberry dough - topped with a scoop of cereal and then drizzled with condensed milk and wild strawberry sauce). You'll also find classics like cookie dough!
Open since 2014, you can find this fantastic spot at 126 Newark Avenue in Jersey City. While primarily a yogurt shop, they also serve up the most amazing cookie dough. I braved parallel parking just to enjoy it, and enjoy it I did. This top rated dessert spot delivers locally, but it's worth driving to pick up flavors like Peanut Butter Explosion and The Kiss (triple chocolate cookie dough with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and chocolate sprinkles).
A full service ice cream shop located at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, you'll also find several flavors of edible cookie dough here. While the chocolate chip is fantastic, true chocolate lovers will delight in the triple chocolate brownie.
Another cookie dough spot at the Garden State Plaza, the chain eatery is opening several locations a little further south. On May 5, Dough Life will open in the Freehold Raceway Mall on Route 9 in Freehold and a Dough Life will open at the Deptford Mall later this year (though no date is set, yet). The menu offers something for everyone, including seasonal flavors like Raspberry Macaroon and The Old Fashioned (cinnamon dough with oatmeal and raisins).
This dough is different from what you’d find at a supermarket – the flour is heat treated to kill bacteria and any eggs used are often pasteurized. Did I miss your favorite cookie dough spot in New Jersey? Please share with me in the comments, I want to try it!
