Jenkinson’s Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey is a shore staple. Who hasn’t spent a summer here? Open since 1928, it’s brought joy to families for generations. It started out with a candy shop, soda fountain, refreshment stand, novelty store, and a swimming pool. A dance hall and mini-golf were soon added.
Today, the boardwalk has rides, games, restaurants, an obstacle course, entire amusement park, and more. A highlight is the family-friendly Jenkinson’s Aquarium. Open since 1991, it’s a delight for kids and adults alike.
You'll find a variety of interesting and adorable exhibits focused on education and conservation. There are seals...
While the live cams are a great way to check in on these fascinating animals when you're not at the shore, the aquarium offers some incredible in-person penguin opportunities.
Each penguin adoption kit includes a penguin plush with matching ID band, a personalized certificate, a 5x7 color photo of your penguin, a personality card on your penguin, an information packet, an 8x10 penguin foot painting, two complimentary passes to the aquarium, AND an invitation to Parent's Night.
You can check out their live penguin cam here! I especially enjoy watching them interact with staff and waddle around. They’re so cute when they run! If you want to meet some of the residents and learn more about African Penguins, check out the video below by Jenkinson’s Aquarium made in 2017:
