There are certain things that most everyone in the United States will know. Red means stop, green means go and you drive on the right side of the road, for example. There are other things, however, that only those of us in New Jersey know to be a fact. These truths help make New Jersey unique, here are 11 of them.

1. October 30th is Mischief Night.

This is not a thing in most of the United States but we know it means toilet paper and shaving cream everywhere.
2. You're either a Wawa or Quick Chek fan. Never both.

If you like Wawa, you're probably from South Jersey. If you like Quick Chek, you're not.
3. You can tell where someone is from based on their favorite baseball team.

Phillies fans live along the Delaware, mostly in the southern part of the state. Northeast Jersey loves the Yankees. This has been scientifically proven. Where are the Mets fans? Scattered around.
4. This is either a sub or a hoagie.

Another dividing line within the state depends on what you call this sandwich. It's a sub in North Jersey, hoagie in the south.
5. This sign was obviously spotted in South Jersey.

This photo was taken in Wildwood but you already knew that. If it was taken in North Jersey the sign would say Taylor Ham.

7. We LOVE our pizza and bagels.

8. All gas stations have attendants.

9. You know what a "benny" is.

And you know that in the summer, this beautiful beach will be packed with them. You might not know that the term is an acronym for beach goers from Bayonne Elizabeth Newark New York and the surrounding areas.
10. This is not what we mean when we say jug handle.

Instead of just turning left from the left lane, we like to drive in circles. It makes sense...somehow.
11. A real diner is open 24 hours.

Don't give us that open late nonsense. A REAL diner is open 24/7 and breakfast is served all day.
