If you’ve stepped outside or seen the weather, you know this has been one hot week. Temperatures are soaring into the 90’s and no one wants to go outside. Well, I don’t – unless there is water involved. Luckily, New Jersey offers plenty of water and other great indoor activities that will help you beat the heat.

Whether you call it the beach or the shore, we've got some great coastline. Check out one of the many free beaches on the Jersey Shore including Union Beach, The Wildwoods, Strathmere, Keansburg, Barnegat and Atlantic City Beaches.

While we have great coastal beaches, we also offer wonderful lakes with cool, clean water. Try Lake Marcia, Lake Absegami, Hooks Creek Lake or Lake Nummy.

You might even need to bring a jacket for this warm weather activity! Is it just me or are movie theaters freezing? The Loew's seen above is one of 5 Loew's Wonder Theater Palaces. Built in 1929, it was made to provide the utmost in luxury to moviegoers.

Though your local library may not be as stunning as Princeton's Firestone Library, it's what's inside that counts - books! Many libraries also offer computers and planned activities for all ages like yoga classes and game nights.

Indoor climbing provides a great workout, all while you enjoy the nice cold air conditioning. If you want to give it a try, I'd recommend High Exposure in Northvale. They offer bouldering and walls for all skill levels, an action adventure room, parkour + ninja warrior classes and a Smoothie bar! Every Thursday you can buy a day pass and get one free. South Jersey climbers, don't fret; Elite Climbing in Maple Shade is another great spot to try.

Willowbrook in Wayne is shown above, but we've got plenty more to choose from. Monmouth Mall, Short Hills, The Garden State Plaza, Freehold Raceway Mall...the list goes on and on. Not only can you shop, many malls offer activities and numerous dining options. New Jersey will be home to the largest mall in the world, when Xanadu is completed in 2016.
All of these options can provide endless hours of entertainment, but there are other ways to survive a summer day. What’s your favorite way to beat the heat in New Jersey?
