Must-See Places In New Jersey
What are the best waterfall hikes in New Jersey?
New Jersey is home to a handful of beautiful hidden waterfalls that are each worth tracking down. While just about everyone will tell you all about their short hike to Buttermilk Falls, there are plenty of quieter spots where you'll find beautiful cascades. Chikahoki Falls in Norvin Green State Forest features a small swimming hole, and if you park at the Otter Hole trailhead, you'll see the Otter Hole Falls, too! The Morris Canal Preserve is home to a towering cascade, too, against a beautiful and historic backdrop. Throughout the Delaware Water Gap, small and large waterfalls seem to appear out of thin air! Be sure to check out the falls along the Copper Mines Trail.
Does New Jersey have any natural wonders?
So much of New Jersey's landscapes are made of natural wonders. From the gorgeous sandy beaches of our southern shores to the cliffs of the Atlantic Highlands, the coast of New Jersey is remarkable. Farther inland, the Great Falls of Paterson, the enormous Pinelands National Preserve, and Sourland Mountain each hold their own place in geologic history. Of course, the New Jersey Highlands and Skylands have the highest points in the state and the beautiful Delaware Water Gap.
What are the most picturesque hiking trails in New Jersey?
It's hard to top the natural beauty of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area! Take a hike up from Dunfield Creek to the top of Mount Tammany, and continue on to Sunfish Pond for a full day adventure. On the northern side of the preserve, hike along Rattlesnake Ridge for breathtaking views. In between, there are dozens of other side trails that take you up to the Appalaichain Trail - try heading up from the AMC Mohican Outdoor Center to get started!
