There are so many amazing cities in New Jersey that singling one out seems almost impossible, but the statistics speak for themselves. Of course, there are some towns that are better for families (Boonton, Chatham), some that are ideal for millennials (Hoboken, Montclair) and others which are havens for foodies (Cape May, Jersey City), but Cherry Hill (population 71,045) has something for everyone. Here are 10 reasons to pack your bags and move to Cherry Hill, New Jersey:
1. Cherry Hill was just ranked among the top 50 best small cities in America by Money Magazine.
Besides its proximity to Philly, Cherry Hill is about 90 minutes from NYC, just over an hour from Atlantic City, under 45 minutes from our state capital and convenient to other wonderful towns like Princeton and Medford Lakes.
Subaru of America, TD Bank and Pinnacle Foods (Duncan Hines, Birds Eye, Swanson, Celeste....) all have headquarters in the city. Melitta USA has its coffee roasting plant here and you'll also find the famous Cherry Hill Mall. Speaking of...
In addition to the Cherry Hill Mall (the first covered mall in the eastern United States), you'll find small shops like Dare Boutique, chain stores like Target and the Market Place at Garden State Park shopping center.
Check out The Wine Room where you can handcraft your own wines and enjoy special events like tastings. Another favorite is the Forgotten Boardwalk brewery offering beer and skee-ball.
Kids are sure to love the Garden State Discovery Museum, one of the state's premier children's museums. You'll also find the Big Event Bowling Alley and the International Sports, Skating and Fun Center. Kids also get a kick out of the Toy Train Emporium and BounceU. Older kids and adults will love the Amazing Escape Room.
8. You can find a variety of outdoor activities to enjoy.
Cherry Hill is home to a whopping 51 city parks along with 3 county parks. You'll find basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds, athletic fields, walking paths and more. A local favorite is Springdale Farm with its amazing bakery and seasonal corn maze.
Cherry Hill is home to one of my favorite places, the Barclay Farmstead Museum (pictured). This living history museum is free to Cherry Hill residents ($5 and under for everyone else) and offers tours, demonstrations and educational programs. You'll also find the Historic Croft Farm, Cherry Hill Performing Arts Center and the Philly Art Center which offers music and art classes for kids and adults.
Chick's Deli has some of the best cheesesteaks around and Amy's Omelette House has the best breakfast. Head to Caffe Aldo Lamberti for fine dining, Silver Diner for classic Jersey eats, Lemongrass for Asian Fusion, Zoes Kitchen for Mediterranean cuisine and Seasons 52 for small plates.
