Where can we get away from it all? Here are some of our favorite peaceful and relaxing places in no particular order.

A popular place for hiking with a variety of beautiful trails and scenic landscapes, few things beat the view from the base of High Point Monument. It's absolutely breathtaking! It doesn't matter if the park is packed - when you stare out at the rolling hills and valleys that surround you, you'll feel like there's nothing else. We do not encourage you to sit at the edge of the monument, lest you feel like your leg is broken.

This picturesque place perfectly blends art and nature. You'll find dozens of beautiful sculptures on the grounds, along with ponds, peacocks, lakes, gardens, and whimsical, winding paths. It's magical.

A lovely place all year long, it's especially peaceful in the winter. Whenever you visit, the short and sweet Maritime Forest Trail is a must.

This 120-acre nature preserve is a relaxing place for fishing, hiking, and birdwatching. Kayaking is also allowed seasonally.
