Everyone knows it’s crucial to work out both your mind and your body. But did you know there’s a place in New Jersey where you can do both at the same time?
We’re of course talking about Morristown National Historic Park. The park has historical significance to New Jersey and the United States as a whole, but also offers amazing hiking trails. Here’s one trail in particular we love:
The Orange/Blue Patriots Path and Grand Loop Trail isn't just a nice, enjoyable hike --it's also a learning opportunity.
Located in Morristown National Historic Park, New Jersey, this loop trail takes you through a historical site.
You'll wander through several important Revolutionary War sites here.
It's the sites where General Washington and the Continental army placed a winter encampment of December 1779 to June 1780, where they survived through what would be the coldest winter on record. The park's website describes it as "where America survived."
There are plenty of educational plaques along the way so you can understand what you're looking at.
Hiking and learning at the same time? We love it!
Orange/Blue Patriots Path and Grand Loop Trail is an easy hike, too, coming in at just under three miles.
There's not much elevation gain, either: just 390 feet.
You'll pass by a pretty river as you walk through this forest, and keep an eye out for interesting wildlife as well.
It's a moderately trafficked trail, but you should still be able to enjoy the peace of the forest.
This is also a hike that is easy to accomplish no matter the season.
So lace up your sneakers and head out there!
Just keep in mind: You can bring your dog but they must be put on a leash!
