As of 2019, there were 114 breweries, 51 wineries, 22 distilleries, 18 brewpubs, 3 cideries, and 1 meadery in New Jersey. We’ve got so many options when it comes to alcoholic beverages but everyone has their preferences. If beer is your thing, you’re going to love this list. Fall is one of the best times to enjoy a beer in the Garden State with bold, fresh flavors like pumpkin and apple, and some of our breweries get really creative. Below, you’ll find some of the best fall flavors in New Jersey in no particular order.
1. Oktoberfest - Czig Meister Brewing Company (Hackettstown)
Celebrate the season with this medium bodied light orange colored ale. You'll find flavors of toasty graham cracker and light honey notes in every sip. Reviewers call it toasty with a caramel aroma. Yum!
Each Halloween, this bloody beer comes back to life. Of course, the blood red color actually comes from beets, which add a touch of sweetness to the otherwise earthy hop flavor.
Sweet potato is just as much of a fall flavor as pumpkin but rarely gets as much attention. This amber lager is perfect for sweet potato fans that feel it deserves some time in the spotlight.

4. Fit For A King - Brix City Brewing (Little Ferry)
Though it may not have a fall name, it has plenty of fall flavors. A peach cobbler-style DIPA conditioned on cinnamon, graham crackers, and peach puree, it tastes like the favorite fall dessert.
Though definitely a beer, it's something of a wine hybrid. Starting with a simple Saison grain bill, Harvest Ale is brewed with Hallertau Blanc. Towards the end of the fermentation process, a sizable amount of Merlot must is added. This beer has hints of white wine and grape.
The second pumpkin-flavored beer on our list, this option is gluten-free. Over 100 pumpkins were sacrificed to brew this seasonal treat, along with a hearty dose of their home blended pumpkin spice.
8. Caramel Apple - Devil's Creek Brewery (Collingswood)
Squash is an underrated autumn flavor and it works surprisingly well in beer. The dull bitterness of acorn squash pairs perfectly with a hint of blackstrap molasses and a shake of chili flake.
10. Build Me Up Butternut - Icarus Brewing Co. (Lakewood)
There's more than one kind of squash. This beer utilizes butternut squash, paired with chili peppers. It's a perfect fall porter with a full bodied chocolate/roasted flavor and a hint of spice.
Several of these breweries offer outdoor beer gardens while others have pickup and delivery available. Be sure to call and confirm that your desired flavor is available as these beers are seasonal. Share your favorite fall beer with us in the comments.
