In the midst of a seemingly endless winter, there’s an upcoming event that everyone in New Jersey can look forward to. Back by popular demand, Long Beach Island Region’s Chocolate Week will return to the gorgeous Southern Ocean County from February 11th – 18th, 2018. This family-friendly event, presented by the Southern Ocean Chamber members, incorporates local businesses and organizations in a showcase of all things chocolate: culinary demonstrations, themed dinners, activities and more. So whether you’re a visitor or a resident, you’ll be glad you marked your calendar for the sweetest event of the season.
Any time of year, the Long Beach Island region makes for a spectacular visit. Even in wintertime, the shoreline is picturesque and inviting.
While the shore may be quieter this time of year, there are plenty of activities to enjoy on LBI. One such event known as Long Beach Island Region's Chocolate Week has quickly become a favorite among residents and visitors alike.
Wondering where to dive into all the festivities? On February 11th, you can step inside the Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts and Science. Inside, you'll find a dazzling hot chocolate bar along with interactive workshops. It's the perfect introduction to your LBI visit.
Several local restaurants will be serving up a special Valentine's dinner. Mainland Hotel is offering a delicious "Dine With Your Darling" Romantic Dinner complete with dessert. Can you imagine a sweeter way to spend the holiday?
Other local spots, such as Delaware Oyster House and the Arlington (pictured below) will be offering additional chocolate menu items as well as specialty drinks throughout the week.
One of the best parts about Chocolate Week is that you don't have to wait 'til dessert to enjoy these specialty treats. Stop by the Local Market & Kitchen and you can start your day with a homemade pastry and specialty coffee drink.
Throughout the week, be sure to visit stores such as Stutz Candy Company and Country Kettle Fudge for treats that you can sample and take home with you.
If you stop by Union Market, you can enjoy a free Jersey Girl Chocolate Macaroon with any purchase of their incredible House Blend Hot Cocoa. And if you order The Kaboom, a specialty from Weather NJ, you'll enjoy two free macaroons.
Visitors over 21 can also enjoy the Southern Ocean Brew Trail, which makes its way to some of the best breweries in the area. Who knew that chocolate tasted so great with craft beer?
Chocolate Week is coordinated by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce. Anyone planning a unique mid-winter getaway can visit the official website here.
