If you enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine, you’re in luck. We’ve got loads of great options in New Jersey, including this local favorite where you can eat from a lava rock – they’re quite famous for it!
La Cita is a brightly colored eatery that serves up some of the best Mexican food in the area.
Located in Cherry Hill, the restaurant features a charming interior with a bit of Mexican flair. You'll appreciate the attention to detail, though when you try the food you'll know that you'd eat it anywhere.
You'll also find traditional dishes from Puebla, Mexico like tamal (corn masa (dough), wrapped in a corn husk, filled with sauce and meat), ceviche de camaron (jumbo shrimp, avocado, red onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, cilantro, lime & citrus juice, extra virgin olive oil), and huitlacoche quesadillas (corn truffle, onions, jalapenos).
What you absolutely can't miss though, is the molcajetes (stone bowls). Choose from chicken, steak, shrimp, or all of the above, served in a hot lava stone bowl. These special bowls help to add depth to the flavor.
The Molcajete Azteca reigns supreme, brining in foodies from all over New Jersey. It comes complete with tomatillo and red pepper sauce, served on a hot lava rock bowl, with Chihuahua cheese, chorizo, jumbo shrimp, chicken breast and Cecina (salted beef) served with cactus and corn shavings. Yum!
Sound good? It is! You can visit La Cita at this Address: 911 Marlton Pike W, Cherry Hill, NJ, 08002. They are open daily from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., with extended hours (closing at 10 p.m.) on Friday and Saturday. To discover more of the best Mexican food in New Jersey, click here.
