Island Beach State Park might just be one of New Jersey’s best hidden gems. Situated on Barnegat Bay, it’s much quieter and more peaceful than other beaches in the Jersey area. But the island has more to offer than just beaches. It’s also a great place for those who like to explore and hike!
Island Beach State Park is one of the prettiest, most peaceful beaches in the state of New Jersey.
It's affordable to enter the park: $6 for NJ residents and $10 for non-residents on weekdays, and $10 for NJ residents and $20 for non-residents on weekends.
There are so many fun and beautiful short hiking trails on the island to test out.
You can explore the bay, the forested areas, and the beach here.
To see all the island has to offer, we recommend the Island Beach State Park Loop.
This is a great way to traverse the state park. Don't worry, it's not too long: just a little over three and a half miles.
You'll go through some forested parts where the road is partially paved, and some parts where the road is just sand.
There's not much elevation gain, so it's more of a hiking trail. You'll walk along the beach, too, so you can cool off with a dip there if the weather is nice.
You'll get some great views of Barnegat Bay on this hike.
Look at how beautiful!
You'll also get to wander past a beautiful, historic lighthouse.
This is the perfect place to snag a photo.
Basically, this loop trail offers a little something for everyone.
Best of all, you can bring your dogs on this trail! And don’t worry if it’s a chillier month — this is a fun hike regardless of the month.
