If you’re looking for a fun new place to grab a bite in the Garden State, I’ve got a great option for you…the Hot Dog Caboose. It’s quaint, quirky, and definitely one-of-a-kind. I’ve written about train car eateries before, but none quite like this casual grab-n-go spot.

This little red caboose is over a century old and was in service in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania until the mid-1970s.

While the menu isn't massive, it's got all the basics covered... mozzarella sticks, onion rings, pulled pork sandwiches, mini chicken tacos, chicken bites, fries, baked beans, chili, hot pretzels and more! The Fire in the Caboose Chili is heaven for lovers of all things spicy.

Fans of good eats, unique places, locomotives, and/or hospitality will love this little spot. You can find the Hot Dog Caboose at 211 Greenwood Avenue, Midland Park. Hours are 11-6, M-F and 11-4 on Saturday and Sunday. Prices are reasonable and you can’t beat the unique experience…there are only a handful of hot dog caboose in the world.
