If you're looking for a truly unique New Jersey hike, take a trail up Wildcat Ridge and through Hibernia Cemetery in Rockaway, New Jersey.
This Morris County wildlife management area is home to miles and miles of trails that attract birders and nature lovers all year long.
The most popular trail is a 7.4-mile loop trail that connects Four Birds Trail to the Hibernia Brook .
The views of Splitrock Reservoir are spectacular any time of year!
From the top of the ridgeline, you can see for miles in any direction. It's beautiful in the spring, summer, and when the colors of autumn take over the view.
This ridge and wildlife management area were home to the mining community of Hibernia, where iron was mined from the mid-1700s through 1916. You'll encounter relics of the mining times on your hike.

This graveyard was established in 1869, and the residing spirits were witnesses to all sorts of American history.
While most hikers call it the Hibernia Cemetery, its officially "Saint Patrick's Cemetery".
Those entombed here were miners from the nearby community, and you can stroll the neat rows of tombstones and grave markers that tell a short tale of their lives.
This grassy, overgrown graveyard has been abandoned for decades, but plenty of visitors stop to pay their respects while hiking through Wildcat Ridge.
