I’ve been a huge Harry Potter fan since the books first came out and I’m always excited for opportunities to immerse myself in that magical world. I’m all about butterbeer donuts and wizard festivals, but I’m particularly thrilled to share that the Robert J. Novins Planetarium will once again be offering the Astronomical World Of Harry Potter. This special event combines science and magic in an absolutely enchanting way…
The Robert J. Novins Planetarium is part of Ocean County College, but it's open to the public. It offers a variety of special events including laser shows and traditional planetarium shows.
Guests will learn how the characters and events in Harry Potter take their origins from the stars and constellations. From the bright star Sirius in Canis Major to the stars Regulus and Bellatrix, the night sky is filled with some of our favorite, and least favorite characters!
Students at the Novins School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will make their own wands and show off their magical skills and knowledge in wizardly games and activities. Past activities have included a Deadly Hallows scavenger hunt.
Beginner Astronomy, for guests age 8 and up, will be held on September 22 and 28 from 3-5 pm. Advanced Astronomy, recommended for guests age 12 and up, will be held September 28 from 7-9 pm. Both events are family-friendly.
Tickets will be available on September 9th and they tend to sell out very quickly. You can find them here. You may also want to check out other shows and events at the planetarium. Address: Building 13, College Drive, Toms River, NJ 08754. If you’d like to visit another amazing planetarium in New Jersey, check out this one. It’s one of the largest in the world!
